One of the objectives of this interesting aquarium is to raise awareness of the natural wealth and biodiversity of the Galician Rías Gallegas, thus promoting values of respect and awareness of nature.
This Interpretation Centre of the Galician Rías allows us to take a tour of the Rías de Muros and Noia with their sandy bottoms, Arousa with its mussel rafts and shellfish beds, the Costa da Morte with its cliffs, Ortigueira, Corrubedo, etc… without forgetting the National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia, or the Atlantic Ocean. In its tanks we will see pintos, maragotas, sargos, dogfish, morays, turbot, mackerels, rays, octopus… and so on up to more than 1000 specimens of more than 80 species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs, echinoderms and cnidarians. In the largest tank, with a capacity of 250,000 litres, live the large oceanic species such as the seriolas, corvinas, musolas and Xoana, a bull shark.
It also has an exhibition hall as well as an outdoor picnic area with traditional games where young and old can spend some time while taking a break from visiting the aquarium.
